Angel Sanctuary Volume 1

I tried to get through this and I could not. I thought the idea of it was interesting and eventually I'd like to try it again but I found it to be so monumentally confusing that I had no idea what was going on. Everyone looks the same, the pages are too crowded with confusing and loud images albeit beautiful and the story makes no sense to me. So in other words I am interested but right now I'd like to read some other stuff that I can understand.
